Both within the Greater Tampa Bay Community and nationally, the Joy McCann Foundation has given a number of large grants to distinguished programs that help to further the mission of the Foundation. The core of the reasoning behind these large grants is to allow organizations the capacity and flexibility they need to undertake large ventures with an eye for the future and cutting edge strategies. Recipients are established organizations with track records for success, financially sound proposals, and the opportunity to expand their programs within one of the current strategic priorities of the Foundation’s giving.
Proposals are individually invited by the Foundation Board from organizations designated by the Foundation’s founders as entities they “wish to continue to support”. Only organizations invited to apply will be considered.
The Joy McCann Foundation considers the current goals of the Distinguished Grants Program to have been met with the following established grants and as a result there are no current or future plans to undertake additional Distinguished Grants. If the Foundation's priorities change and any future Distinguished Grants are made, only organizations listed by the Foundation's founders will be considered. A list of these designated charities can be found by visiting Designated Organizations .
